Meet The Director

Professor Stanley Mpofu joined The National University Of Science and Technology (NUST) as the Director of the Centre for Continuing Education in the year 2005. He has been in the field of adult and continuing education for over 20 years, beginning with the time when he joined the Department of Adult Education at the University of Zimbabwe, in 1987. He has also worked in the adult education departments of the University of Botswana (1995 to 1999) and the University of Namibia (1999 to 2003), where he served as Head of Department for three years (2001 to 2003).
Among numerous local and international professional engagements, Professor Mpofu serves on the "Series Editorial Board" of the Institute for International Co-operation of the German Adult Education Association (IIZ/DVV). The Series Board seeks to produce books with a strong emphasis on African perspectives of Adult Education and Training.
He holds two degrees from the University of Rhodesia, a Bachelor of Administration and a Master of Science in Regional and Urban Planning, and in addition has a Doctorate in Adult and Continuing Education from Michigan State University (USA). He also holds an online instructor’s certificate from Walden University (USA) and, till recently, served as co-online facilitator for a workshop entitled "Teaching at a Distance: from Concept to Practice" (http://coursesites.blackboard.com).
He has researched and published extensively on many aspects of adult and continuing education, including open and lifelong learning. His research activities have spanned several Southern African countries, namely, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
